Tetzaveh

תְּצַוֶּה

Summary of the Parshah

The oil for the Menorah, the garments of the High Priest, the consecration of the priests and the daily offering.

📖 Studying the Parshah

Parshat Tetzaveh continues the instructions for building the Mishkan. It opens with the command to keep the Menorah burning continually with pure olive oil.

The heart of the parshah describes the garments of the High Priest (Kohen Gadol): the ephod, the breastplate (choshen) with twelve precious stones for the twelve tribes, the blue robe with bells and pomegranates, the linen tunic, the turban with the golden plate engraved “Holy to G-d”, and the embroidered sash.

It also describes the anointing and consecration of Aaron and his sons as priests over seven days, the inauguration offerings, and the daily offering (tamid): two lambs each day, one in the morning and one towards evening.
